Al Tellechea, a shareholder at Akerman Senterfitt, concentrates his practice on complex civil and criminal litigation, currency matters, international law and U.S. Customs law.

His experience includes serving as special counsel with the U.S. Department of Justice prosecuting criminal cases involving the Department of Defense and as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and special attorney assigned to the Narcotics and Dangerous Drug Section of the U.S. Department of Justice investigating currency related crimes.

In addition, Al served as Assistant Regional Counsel with the Fourth Region of the U.S. Customs Service in Miami and as the liaison with the U.S. Attorneys' offices for criminal investigations, prosecutions and forfeitures. He served as the Assistant United States Attorney, Chief Civil Division and White Collar Crime Unit and as Acting Chief of the Criminal Division.

Al has authored several articles and lectured both nationally and internationally on customs, litigation corruption, asset forfeiture, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and currency matters.
