(Retired) [headlines] Leasing and Finance Industry Help Wanted [headlines] The 5 Real Reasons You Didn't Get Hired
I have been in the executive recruiting for over 25 years, (I can’t believe it) and have been through two major down turns, 2001 and 2008, but the real reasons that people don’t get the role that they interview for hasn’t changed. Here is a list of most common complaints I hear in the marketplace from hiring teams.
Getting your dream job (even if it isn’t) is difficult, so why screw it up by not having common sense and courtesy. A first round interview is a like a first date, treat it as such. Commercial Finance/Leasing Finance Conferences

Challengers (Amazon Prime): The blurred lines of sports and sex are the subject of this highly accomplished drama from Italian director Luca Guadagnino (“Call Me by Your Name”), whose mix of intelligence and eroticism makes this a real treat. Taking the shape of a romantic triangle, the plot centers on Tashi Donaldson (Zendaya), whose tireless management has turned her husband, Art (Mike Faist), from a medium tennis player to a world-famous champion. As a way to energize his game after a losing streak, she enters him into a challenger event that puts him face to face with Patrick Zweig (Josh O’Connor), Art’s friend and Tashi’s former lover. Tensions rise as the competition heats up both on and out of the tennis court. Assured and snappy, this is an exhilarating cinematic seduction. Civil War (Amazon Prime, Apple TV): British science-fiction specialist Alex Garland (“Ex Machina”) casts a beady eye on the future of American conflictin this dystopian drama, depicting an alternate reality where tensions have come to a boil. When California, Texas and Florida attempt to secede from the U.S., extremists from those states form a vigilante group named the Western Alliance and wage war on the rest of the country. The view of the chaos comes from a group of intrepid reporters, including Lee (Kirsten Dunst), Joel (Wagner Moura) and Sammy (Stephen McKinley Henderson), on a perilous journeyto Washington, D.C. in hopes of interviewing the President before an assassination attempt. Conceptually provocative and often engrossing, Garland’s film works best as a nightmarish ode to journalism in times of crisis. The Fall Guy (Amazon Prime, iTunes): Action and romance are breathlessly blended in this rollicking tribute to the rough and tumble trade behind cinematic thrills, stunt men. Ryan Gosling stars as Colt Seavers, a stunt specialist in love with Jody (Emily Blunt), the camera operator on a movie starring big-time star Tom (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). After being away from the business in the wake of an accident, Colt is eager to reunite with Jody as she prepares to direct her first movie. What instead follows is a satirical mystery, with the protagonist hired to find the missing Tom in a landscape of make-believe full of double-crosses and chases. Himself a former stunt man, director David Leitch (“Atomic Blonde”) keeps thingsfast and breezy, anchoredin the playful chemistry between Gosling and Blunt. Hit Man (Netflix): After years of solid work, Glen Powell gets a star-making star vehicle in this amusing, multi-layered romantic comedy that reunites him with versatile director Richard Linklater (“Everybody Wants Some!!”). Powell portrays Gary Johnson, a New Orleans philosophy professor who puts his interest in human identity to the test when he helps the local police department. Taking part in undercover sting operations, Johnson poses as a professional assassin in hopes of arresting those who hire him. Getting into the groove of the situation, he enjoys a variety of disguises and accents. Things take an unexpected turn when he becomes involved with Maddy (Adria Arjona), a young woman planning to murder her husband. Based on a true story, Linklater’s gentle andclever film is one of the year’s best. Godzilla Minus One (Netflix): Japan’s most famous gargantuan lizard returns in this spectacular installment, which scored an Academy Award for visual effects. Set in the wake of World War Two, as the country struggles to rise from the rubble of destruction, the plot follows Shikishima (Ryunosuke Kamichi), a kamikaze pilot traumatized by war experiences as well as a brush with the eponymous creature. When the beast makes its way to Tokyo, Shikishima and his co-workers, including scientist Noda (Hidetaka Yoshioka), must find a way to protect the city from its nuclear-based rampage. Linking a vision of large-scale peril to a story of personal honor and redemption, director Takashi Yamazaki crafts an exciting but also thoughtful and emotionally powerful new chapter in the Godzilla saga.
