Kris Roglieri is being held without bail after allegedly threatening to murder an FBI agent. He was charged with felony wire fraud and being detained in the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility in Troy, New York. According to the Albany Times Union, he will remain in jail without bail pending his trial resolution of the criminal case brought by federal prosecutors. Although Rensselaer is a state jail, it also houses federal inmates, which explains why Roglieri is in a state facility when he is facing felony wire fraud charges. Roglieri keeps adding to his long list of serious problems. The wire fraud charges are by far the most daunting, carrying potential punishment of up to 20 years in federal prison and complete restitution to his victims, seemingly contradictory penalties as earning $125 million from a prison cell will be difficult. Apart from the wire fraud charges, his company, Prime Venture Capital, is defunct and in a Chapter 11 proceeding. Attorneys in that case claim that Roglieri may have misappropriated more than $125 million from clients. His conference brainchild, National Alliance of Commercial Loan Brokers, is, to the extent it has value, ostensibly property of his personal bankruptcy estate. He is personally facing two state weapons charges for his possession of an extensive collection that included an AR-15-style assault rifle and a high-capacity magazine. Roglieri and his companies are facing multiple lawsuits. His property, including his exotic car collection, expensive watch collection, antiques, and more, has been seized. His Queensbury mansion in upstate New York is on the Chapter 7 auction block. The future does not look bright for Kris Roglieri. [headlines] New Hires/Promotions in the Leasing Business
[headlines] Leasing and Finance Industry Help Wanted [headlines] EV Buyers Have Saved Over $1 Billion
President Joe Biden's much-touted Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) is paying off big time, particularly for the many thousands of Americans who have bought electric vehicles this year. EV buyers have saved more than $1 billion in upfront purchase costs since January 1 thanks to the 2022 bill's revamped incentives for electric car purchases, the U.S. Treasury Department said on Wednesday. That $1 billion has helped facilitate the purchase of some 150,000 new and used clean vehicles this year. A $7,500 federal incentive for purchases of electric cars has been around in one form or another since 2010. Now, for the first time, it's available as a point-of-sale discount instead of a tax-time credit. The bottom line is: “The IRA is working," U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo told reporters during a briefing on Tuesday. "It's been a game changer for the American consumer and automakers." The $7,500 EV tax credit first launched in 2010 and received a major overhaul by the IRA in 2022. The new incentive includes income restrictions for buyers. It also prioritizes vehicles built in North America and has provisions that aim to reduce reliance on China for key battery minerals and components. Importantly, starting this year, the incentives became available at the point of sale. That means EV buyers no longer need to wait until tax time to apply for a credit and lower their tax liability. They can get up to $7,500 lopped off the purchase price of their vehicle by passing their credit on to the dealership they buy from. That should make getting a discounted EV simpler and more immediate. And the change is already paying off. West Virginia is the least expensive for a single adult, who only needs to make an estimated $37.88 per hour, or $78,790 annually. To live comfortably on your own in the top five states, a person would need to earn nearly double the typical income for single earners, as the U.S. median income for single, full-time workers is around $60,000, according to Labor Bureau data. So check out our list of recommendations: Bigger Than Life (1956): A specialist in exposing the raw nerves beneath the optimistic veneer of the 1950s, director Nicholas Ray (“Rebel Without a Cause”) provides a broken mirror of paternal virtue in this scathing domestic drama. James Mason is superb as Ed Avery, a modest schoolteacher whose meek life takes a sharp turn after medical problems lead him to an addiction to cortisone. Freed from his earlier inhibitions, he grows bolder at work and at home, startling his wife (Barbara Rush) and young son (Christopher Olsen). But is the drug the real problem, or his suffocating everyday suburban life that’s at the root of his madness? Making use of CinemaScope expressionism that verges on horror, Ray’s stylistic verve and subversive streak make this classic a must for every movie lover. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989): A recurring Steven Spielberg theme, the relationship between father and sons takes center stage in this exciting second sequel to “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” Harrison Ford is back as Indiana Jones, globe-trotting explorer extraordinaire, though this time he's paired with an unexpected sidekick: Professor Henry Jones, his estranged father, played by Sean Connery in a conscious bridging of action heroes from different generations. The search that brings them together takes them through World War II Europe in search of the magical Holy Grail. Deep into Nazi territory, their bond is tested not just by ruthless enemies, but by their own need for faith. Though many fans of the franchise prefer the earlier installments, this may be the series’ most spiritually satisfying entry. L’Enfant (2005): Belgian brothers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne offer one of their most powerful pictures with this wrenching drama about growth and responsibility. Bruno (Jeremie Renier) is a young small-time thief whose wife, Sonia (Deborah François), gives birth to a boy. Himself as irresponsible as a child, Bruno unthinkingly sells their son for cash. With his wife shocked by his decision, he must set out to make things right for his family and, in the process, mature as both a man and a father. Winner of the top prize at the Cannes film festival, the film charts the spiritual shifts of the characters against their bleak surroundings, embodying the Dardennes’ passion for outsiders in the face of severe desperation. The results achieve a purity of tension and poignancy. With subtitles. A Better Life (2011): Demián Bichir won a well-deserved Best Actor Oscar nomination for his heartfelt performance in this poignant story of the bond between a father and a son in an often harsh world. Bichir plays Carlos Galindo, an undocumented Mexican immigrant making ends meet as a gardener in Los Angeles. When the truck he needs for his job is stolen by another man, he delves into the city’s underworld to search for it, helped by his teenage son, Luis (José Julian). During their time together, Carlos grows closer to the alienated Luis, bridging their generational gulf even as danger grows. Directed with unexpected soulful simplicity by Chris Weitz of “American Pie” fame, this modest but heartening film shuns stereotypical dramatics in favor of empathy and humanism. Leave No Trace (2018): After the acclaimed “Winter’s Bone,” writer-director Debra Granik cements her reputation as a specialist in indie grit with this subtle and poignant family drama, set in the Oregon wilderness. Will (Ben Foster) is a war veteran who’s determined to live life on his own terms, living in an isolated area and raising his teenage daughter Tom (Thomasin McKenzie) far from other people. Raised on survivalist routines, Tom sees herself increasingly torn between love for her strict father and her own burgeoning independence. When rangers and social workers enter their private world, the duo’s bond is put to the test. Though working on a modest canvas, Granik finds graceful and expressive ways to showcase the character’s tangled emotions, helped greatly by the meticulous performances of her actors.
