“Dispute” with NAELB?

“Well it saddens me to hear you and the National Association of Equipment Leasing Brokers are having a dispute. You have always been an advocate of the NAELB. In fact you pushed me into becoming a member, which I am grateful. I had hoped to see you in Las Vegas.

“It sounds to me like an attempt is being made to muzzle you and your publication. For so long you brought to our attention the "Bad boys" in our industry.

“It's as simple as this. If you are going to take upfront payments from a Broker or Vendor and fail to complete the transaction and then refuse to repay the money, you are one of the "Bad boys".

We had a client last year who came in contact with one of these companies and only for your investigation and I might add a considerable amount of time on your part, he would not have got his money back. I was a little upset at the time that you refused to name this company who are probably still doing this.

“The Industry owes you a great debt of gratitude and it's time to heal this rift now and re establish good relationships once again. You have contributed too much for this to continue.”

Sincerely,

William Ross

(You do bring up a good point that many of these companies continue

the practice of keeping the advance rentals, even when the lease does not get funded. Our practice has been if the leasing company returns the money before we publish the complaint, there is no complaint, and therefore we don't print the company's name. I don't think your lessee would have gotten their money back, if we had not make

the arrangement not to print the complaint should the money be returned or settlement made between both parties.

(Leasing News printed NAELB President Bob Bell's statement in full on behalf of the association regarding the disposition of two Bulletin Board complaints.  I do understand he and legal counsel Joseph Bonanno were acting like “Mafia hit men” in typical “behind your back” performance on the NAELB bulletin board. Current and ex-directors

were calling our advertisers and readers, so perhaps this is a step

up for the current leadership.

(I am disappointed in the both Mr. Bell and Mr. Bonanno not sending me a courtesy copy of what they were saying to their members about Kit Menkin and/or Leasing News.

(Mr. Ross, it appears you are correct; the leadership of NAELB has it in for Leasing News for naming their brokers as “bad boys.” Editor )
