GE Capital Settlement Reaction

“What a brilliant move by GE Capital on the Norvergence matter!! I don't know if we will ever find out just who at GE made this decision but that person or persons should be up for a promotion. What did this cost GE Capital? I think your story said a mere $2MM. They couldn't buy the kind of good will and notoriety this will give them, let alone making friends in Elliot Spitzer's office.

“I assume they will do the same thing in all of the other states involved. I am sure that they are simply going to charge it to the advertising budget they had set up anyway.

“This puts incredible pressure on the other companies involved. Evidently Elliot Spitzer wasn't buying the "no warranties of merchantability" argument that they were trying to peddle.

“ Every business news reporter in the country will be looking to write an expose on some vendor or leasing company that is bilking the small business person. Anyone who operates anything that remotely resembles a "boiler room", high pressure sales organization will be fair game. Time to clean up your act if you fit the description. “
