Baseball Poem

Red Sox Prayer, 2004
By Joan Morgan, Oklahoma

O' Lord,
If it would not be too much of an imposition,
I have a special request of you.

Please shine down your heavenly rays upon the boys of summer in Beantown.
Make their already potent bats and lively arms instruments of Holy decimation,
In order to strike down the Evil Empire.

Deliver us to victory,
Assuage our many years of anguish,
And lift us to heights we have not seen since 1918.

Oh, Lord one more thing:
Watch over the Cubs too
