KIT - DO NOT USE MY NAME If you really want to spice up your news letter, you may want to add the information below that I received from a former U.S.Leasing employee who was there in the 1970s with Robert E. ("Bert") Laing and me. Mr. Laing is named in the LINC Capital $40,000,000 fraud lawsuit and is also involved in the unrelated litigation below dealing with a famous ponzi scheme involving the Church of Scientology. Interestingly, Reed Slatkin (see below) was a founder of Earthlink, Bert Laing is counter-suing for Earthlink stock, and one of LINC's successful venture leasing deals was with Earthlink.

Thanks, Dux, for providing some entertaining Sunday-afternoon reading. (The Chronicle was really pissing me off today anyway.) Apparently, Burt has been spending lots of time with lawyers lately! Your email prompted me to check for anything new on the Reed Slatkin site, where I discovered that after being sued by Linc on Sept 9th, he was then sued on 9/25 for $5,339,000 by the Slatkin folks for "fraudulent transfer."

He's listed there as a "summary judgement defendent," on this page: Slatkin Bankruptcy Information AND THEN, on October 28th, he has the chutzpah to turn around and file what looks like a counter suit against the Slatkin bankruptcy trustee for witholding 72,888 shares of Earthlink stock that he says belongs to him!
