Now is the Time for the December Push
By Scott Wheeler, CLFP

As we enter the final stretch of 2025, urgency is visible across the commercial equipment finance and leasing landscape. Originators, vendors, and end-users are all racing to close transactions before year-end. The pace is intense, the stakes are high, and the window is narrowing—but the opportunity is still very real.

Most originators are on track for a record-breaking year, but the work isn’t done. Now is the time to lean in, sharpen your focus, and capture what’s still in play. Here are a few reminders to guide your final sprint:

  • Expect the unexpected. Transactions that seemed lost may resurface as approval conditions shift. Stay alert and responsive.
  • Don’t apologize for market changes. A new equilibrium is forming. Be the guide your vendors and clients need to navigate it with confidence.
  • Fight for quality. The best deals deserve your full attention. Structure, value, and service are your differentiators—use them.
  • Think beyond December. A strong close to 2025 is vital, but prospecting now sets the stage for an even stronger 2026.
  • Stay vigilant. Fraud risk doesn’t take holidays. Keep your guard up.
  • Own your expertise. Enjoy the process. Flaunt your knowledge. You’ve earned it.

The finish line is in sight—but so is the starting line for next year. Let’s close with purpose and open with momentum.

What is No Longer Relevant in My Resume?”
Career Crossroads---By Emily Fitzpatrick/RII

This is the time to close your sales, not just for year-end and increased earnings, but to plan your resume and think about whether you will need to put together a new one.

The purpose of any resume is for an employer to screen applicants with the goal of having a handful of candidates to move forward in the interview process.  In general, you will want to keep your resume focused on skills and qualifications.

Today there are video reviews, AI procedures, and the time for long paragraphs is out of date.

No Embellished language: stick to specifics and facts.

Space fillers, e.g. “References Available.”

According to a CareerBuilder survey, here’s what employers want to see on a resume:

1. Customized for their open position: 61%
2. Accompanied by a cover letter: 49%
3. Addressed to the hiring manager or recruiter by name: 26%
4. Links to the applicant’s online portfolio or LinkedIn bio: 21%

The real key is to listen, more than to just talk.

I also suggest you practice with your recruiter or someone where you will have a good time. It is good to close a sale as well as present yourself for a promotion to a new position.
